Picture of original Christian Side and Arm Chair 1962 newspaper article on the international
launch of the Christian Chair
The Kris chair was originally designed by Christian Nørgaard in 1951 as a gift to his aunt. The chair, produced at
the Nørgaard workshop in the village of Skodborg, Denmark, was introduced to an international audience as the
“Christian Chair” during the February 1962 furniture fair in Cologne, Germany. During 2022, we collaborated
closely with Kris to convert his original design to a construction that is engineered for outdoor use, but now in
production with the next generation of Nørgaard furniture makers.
Inspired by the iconic Kris dining chair, the Kris lounge collection seamlessly pairs with the practical Kris tray
tables, blending our unique Danish cord and teak in clean, minimalist lines. Thoughtfully engineered for easy
assembly, Kris Lounge ships disassembled, delivering timeless design and convenience without compromise.
Kris Alu
Kris Alu, a stunning evolution of Kris’s original design, now reimagined as a collection of elegant aluminium
dining chairs.
Aluminium can sometimes feel too cold in cooler environments or too hot in warmer ones. To address this, we
have woven the backrest with Danish cord, providing a comfortable seating experience year-round. The arms of
the chairs retain the natural beauty and pleasant touch of teak, adding a touch of warmth and sophistication.
Like all our aluminium products, Kris Alu is crafted with sustainability in mind, using 70% recycled materials.
